About us
Our Almaty office in Kazakhstan is key to the strength of our practice in the international energy, infrastructure, mining and commodities and financial institutions sectors. Second only to Russia in oil and natural gas reserves and production among the CIS countries, Kazakhstan has the potential to become one of the largest oil and gas producers in the world. It has the world’s largest uranium reserves, second largest chromium, lead and zinc reserves, the third largest manganese reserves and the fifth largest copper reserves. It ranks in the top ten for coal, iron and gold. This is attracting international corporates, governments and entrepreneurs to the country.
We have more than 20 years’ experience of working across Central Asia and have a fully operational office in Almaty with 13 lawyers, led by two partners, following our merger with leading Canadian firm, Macleod Dixon, on 1 January 2012.
We have very well established relations with the state owned entities in Kazakhstan, as well as local and foreign companies and multinational corporations active in Kazakhstan and in neighbouring jurisdictions. We have a proven track record of operating in Kazakhstan’s challenging legal environment, backed by our in-depth knowledge of local, regional and national laws, local traditions and business methods.
