The financing market seems able to constantly adapt to the needs of lenders/pools of capital and to business borrowers.  The emergence, in particular, of a sophisticated asset-based lending business in Canada over the last 10 to 12 years means that private equity sponsors, strategic buyers and CFOs seeking to finance or refinance growth, aquisitions or restructurings, for example have a credible and increasingly mature ABL alternative to traditional senior cash flow lenders and mezzanine, high yield and other traditional debt instruments.
