Intellectual property and technology
In the rail sector we have substantial experience advising train manufacturers, owners and operators on intellectual property issues affecting their business and technology contracts.
In a world led by technology, intellectual property rights are of high value. Rail is an increasingly high-tech industry led by developments in signalling, train control, diagnostics and passenger information systems, not to mention communication. The rights in the underlying engineering and software must be closely guarded to maintain this value and lawyers who advise on such matters must know what they are dealing with.
We advise in relation to the acquisition of rights, transactions involving licensing and the transfer of technology, technology joint ventures, research and development, supply and distribution agreements and dispute resolution. Additionally, we have considerable expertise in data protection and data privacy issues and strategies.
We produce regular briefings and have given seminars to clients in the rail sector on intellectual property issues relevant to the sector.
