British Columbia's Extended "Family Status" Protection & Public Sector Employees' Right to "Free Speech" on the Job

Two recent British Columbia decisions increased employee rights in the workplace. In one, the B.C. Court of Appeal expanded employee protection from discrimination based on "family status" while in another Arbitrator Don Munroe, Q.C. held that the right of teachers to free expression overrides the right of their employers to limit communications on school property or during parent-teacher interviews.
