The Federal Court of Canada recently released one of the first decisions interpreting federal privacy legislation in an employment context in Eastmond v. Canadian Pacific Railway, 2004 FC 852. The Court considered a complaint filed under the Personal Information and Electronic Documents Act ("PIPEDA") alleging that video cameras installed by CP Rail in one of its work yards violated the privacy rights of its employees.
