New Whistleblower Legislation Provides Criminal Sanctions Against Employers

New whistleblower protection legislation came into force in Canada on September 15, 2004. Employers who use employment-related intimidation or retaliation against whistleblowers now risk criminal liability as a result of the addition of section 425.1 to the Criminal Code of Canada.
