The financing market seems able to constantly adapt to the needs of lenders/pools of capital and to business borrowers. The emergence, in particular, of a sophisticated asset-based lending (ABL) business in Canada means that private equity sponsors, strategic buyers and CFOs seeking to finance or refinance growth, acquisitions or restructurings, for example, have a credible and increasingly mature ABL alternative to traditional senior cash flow lenders and mezzanine, high-yield and other traditional debt instruments.
