Valerie Carrier

Biography

Valérie Carrier has been practising in intellectual property since 2000, with an emphasis on preparing and prosecuting patents in the areas of biotechnology, natural health products, chemical processes and bioengineering. Ms. Carrier prepares strategic development plans for intellectual property portfolios covering various aspects of intellectual property in order to ensure adequate protection of products throughout their life cycle (life cycle management). She also produces freedom-to-operate opinions to assist clients with decisions about whether licensing-in of a technology is required for commercialization.

Ms. Carrier worked with several biotechnology research centres during her cooperative training terms. From 1998 to 2000 she worked in software development for the consulting firm Walsh Automation.
