Biography
Thomas (Tam) Davis's practice focuses on business law, primarily corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, energy law (electricity) and corporate commercial law. Mr. Davis has many years' experience in domestic, cross-border and international transactions representing clients in Canada, the USA and Europe. For over ten years, he has focused on negotiations for the development of major power projects, including hydroelectric and natural gas production facilities, and participated in numerous negotiations and transactions for power and energy supply contracts, energy exchanges, operating agreements, cogeneration, transmission and distribution contracts and project finance and joint venture arrangements in the energy sector.

Selected Client Work
- Represented a syndicate of agents led by Scotia Capital Inc. in Trans Québec & Maritimes Pipeline Inc.'s issuance of $75 million of Series K Bonds offered and sold on a private placement basis by TQM Pipeline and Company, Limited Partnership
- Represented Hydro-Québec Production in negotiations with Newfoundland and Labrador for the development of the 2000 MW Lower Churchill River project in Labrador
- Acted as counsel to Hydro-Québec Production in connection with the proposed 845MW natural gas turbine generation facility (Suroît Project)
- Represented Hydro-Québec in connection with a 300 MW energy purchase agreement with Newfoundland and Labrador
- Advised Hydro-Québec in connection with a 350 MW energy purchase agreement with New Brunswick Power
- Providing ongoing advice to Hydro-Québec Production in connection with long-term cross-border energy purchase and supply agreements with various US energy producers and customers
- Represented Hydro-Québec in negotiations of long-term energy supply contracts with a major aluminum producer in Quebec
- Represented Hydro-Québec Production in connection with potential acquisitions of privately owned generating facilities in Quebec
- Advised a major energy producer in connection with its bids to supply energy in response to public calls for tender by Hydro-Québec Distribution
