Biography
Marc Lacourcière's practice involves mergers and acquisitions, securities and corporate law. He has practised in Montréal, London and Toronto. He has particular expertise in public company mergers and acquisitions where he has advised on several multibillion dollar transactions for Canadian and international clients. He also represents issuers and underwriters in public, private and cross-border offerings of securities.
Mr. Lacourcière is currently National Co-Chair of our Business Law Group and Chair of our Finance Committee. He is a former member of our Executive Committee.
Mr. Lacourcière practised for six years at BCE Inc. and Bell Canada, where he was Vice-President and General Counsel prior to joining the firm in January 1999. Previously, he was a partner at another major law firm in Toronto, where he practised in the area of mergers and acquisitions and securities law.

Mr. Lacourcière recently acted for the following clients:
- Quebecor World Inc. (now World Color Press Inc.) in its successful emergence from creditor protection under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA) in Canada and, in respect of certain U.S. subsidiaries, Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code
- Bourse de Montréal Inc. in connection with its merger with TSX Group Inc. and its strategic partnership with NYMEX Holdings, Inc.
- Quebecor Media Inc. in connection with its $415 million take-over bid for Osprey Media Income Fund
- Quebecor Media Inc. in connection with the "privatization" of its publicly traded subsidiary, Nurun Inc.
- Arcelor S.A. in connection with its $5.6 billion take-over bid for Dofasco Inc. and in connection with the Canadian aspects of its US$33 billion merger with Mittal Steel Co. N.V.
- Quebecor Inc. in connection with its $5.4 billion acquisition of Le Groupe Vidéotron ltée
- Bourse de Montréal Inc. in connection with its stock exchange listing
