Biography
Jason McKenzie practises corporate and commercial law and in several areas of federal regulatory law, focusing on private mergers and acquisitions, competition/antitrust and Investment Canada matters, international trade, government procurement, food, drugs and transportation law.
Mr. McKenzie drafts and negotiates merger and acquisition agreements and advises on competition/antitrust issues (including in the context of Canadian and multijurisdictional mergers and acquisitions, reviewable practices such as refusal to deal and abuse of dominant position, conspiracy and restraint of trade issues, and advertising and marketing programs) and Investment Canada review and notification requirements for foreign investment. He advises new business entrants into Canada on corporate organizational issues and in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
Mr. McKenzie's international trade law practice includes Canadian customs laws, anti-dumping and countervailing duties, WTO disputes, trade remedies, trade treaties and export and import permit controls. He has appeared before the Canadian International Trade Tribunal and has acted in the judicial review of procurement decisions. He advises clients on Canadian regulatory requirements for the sale, packaging, labelling and registration of consumer products (including food, cosmetics and natural health products) and has expertise in automotive and motorcycle industry matters, such as licensing, import, export and registration. He also has considerable experience in consulting and negotiating with federal and provincial government departments and agencies on behalf of clients.
