Biography
Daniel S. Drapeau practises intellectual property law, particularly patent, trade-mark and industrial design litigation, including extraordinary remedies such as injunctions and obtaining and executing preservation orders. His experience includes coordinating anti-counterfeiting programs in Canada, coordinating and conducting important seizures of evidence, and trade-mark portfolio management, both for foreign rightsholders in Canada and Canadian brands worldwide.
Mr. Drapeau is an experienced litigator who has appeared before the Federal Court of Appeal, the Federal Court of Canada, the Quebec Superior Court and the Trade-Marks Opposition Board. As a trade-mark agent, he also manages portfolios of famous trade-marks, both in Canada and internationally. He has written extensively, in French and English, in the field of intellectual property.
Mr. Drapeau has been called upon to testify before a Canadian parliamentary committee, and has been invited to address various professional, academic and industry bodies on a wide range of intellectual property topics. He is also frequently consulted by the media on intellectual property issues.

Selected Client Work
- Organized and managed the Canada-wide anti-counterfeiting programs for a famous European brand
- Acted as independent solicitor overseeing an important counterfeit software seizure and reporting to the Federal Court of Canada
- Managed a number of trade-mark portfolios, including famous foreign brands in Canada and Canadian trade-marks internationally
- Executed and coordinated the execution of seizure orders from the Federal Court of Canada in Montréal, Toronto and Vancouver, on behalf of a variety of international and Canadian clients
- Participated in successfully defending a mid-size Canadian manufacturer against a patent infringement action instituted by a US multinational, both before the Federal Court of Canada and the Federal Court of Appeal
