Biography
Alan Mark has extensive experience as a corporate and commercial litigator. His areas of expertise include securities and M&A litigation, shareholder and partnership litigation, class actions, commercial litigation, and banking and insolvency. He has appeared at all levels of the Ontario and federal courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada, and before various administrative tribunals. Mr. Mark has been lead counsel on a number of high-profile domestic and cross-border cases.
Mr. Mark also maintains a substantial electricity law and regulation practice. For many years he has represented the interests of industry participants in proceedings before the Ontario Energy Board and the courts. Mr. Mark has advised many parties in connection with the restructuring of Ontario's electricity industry.

- Lead Canadian counsel for Gildan Activewear Inc. in shareholder misrepresentation class action regarding earnings guidance, including civil secondary market liability claims under recent amendments to the Ontario Securities Act
- Lead counsel on the litigation team representing Schneider Corp. in its takeover battle with Maple Leaf Foods
- Lead counsel on the litigation team representing Mackenzie Financial Corporation in connection with its takeover by Investors Group
- Represented the public utilities commission of the Town of Walkerton in class action litigation resulting from the Walkerton water contamination
- Lead counsel for Bell Canada International in class action suit by investors
- Counsel to the Special Committee of IAMGold Corporation in litigation regarding hostile takeover bid by Golden Star Resources
- Lead counsel for Ravelston Corporation and Lord Conrad Black in litigation concerning Hollinger Inc.
