Thierry Dorval Receives a Doctorate of Laws Degree from the University of Ottawa for His Work Related to Corporate Governance

Thierry Dorval, Partner and a member of the Business Law Group in our Montréal office, received a Doctorate of Laws degree from the University of Ottawa for his work related to corporate governance. His thesis entitled, The Role of Corporate Governance in Reducing Agency Problems and Assisting Directors in the Discharge of their Fiduciary Duties, takes up many of the principles described in his book, Governance of Publicly Listed Corporations, while adding empirical studies derived from financial and economical literature. Mr. Dorval is one of the very few legal practitioners in Canada to hold an LLD. Mr. Dorval is one of the founding members of the Quebec Chapter of the Institute of Corporate Directors and sits on its executive committee. He also sits on the Listing Advisory Committee of the Toronto Stock Exchange.
