In the section on courtroom tips and etiquette, Jeffrey Percival, an associate at Ogilvy Renault LLP, stressed that law is a service industry, where "reputation is everything."
"Always be respectful to [the] other side, even if you don't like them," Percival says. He adds, "Be civil and courteous and it will pay back in spades."
Also, when you go to court, always bring your Rules of Civil Procedure, Percival advises. "You don't want to be put on the spot by a judge or master and made to squirm, because you don't have your copy of the rules."
