Ogilvy Renault Regrets the Loss of Jacques Côté
June 20, 2008
Québec, June 20, 2008 - It is with regret and sadness that the firm announces the sudden death of our respected partner, Jacques Côté, a member of the Business Law Group in our Québec office. Jacques died in a helicopter crash on his way back from a fishing trip. He was 56.
"We express great sadness over the death of our colleague and good friend, Jacques," said Pierre Bienvenu, managing partner, Ogilvy Renault. "A lawyer respected for his great competence, Jacques was highly esteemed by his co-workers, clients and fellow lawyers. We extend our deepest sympathies to his wife and children. He will be missed."
Jacques joined the firm in 1998, where he practised in tax litigation and corporate law. Prior to joining the firm, he worked in the tax litigation section of the Department of Justice in Ottawa, from 1977 to 1986, before going on to a career in private practice.
Jacques enjoyed every breath of life to the fullest. Whether with his wife, Diane, and children, Marie-Ève and Sarah, or his closest friends and confidants, he was at his happiest spending time with the people he loved. An avid fisherman and hobbyist, Jacques could always be counted on to share a laugh or lend an ear.
We extend our most heartfelt condolences to his family and assure them our thoughts are with them in these difficult times.
