Daniel S. Drapeau Releases Seizure Orders Book
May 13, 2008
Montréal, May 13, 2008 - Ogilvy Renault Intellectual Property partner Daniel S. Drapeau released Anton Piller Orders and the Federal Court of Canada at the Fairmont Château Laurier in Ottawa today. Anton Piller Orders are seizure orders used to preserve evidence prior to litigation. The comprehensive legal and practical guide reflects the importance of this remedy.
Anton Piller orders are issued by Canadian courts and are gaining in popularity. This is evidenced by a recent Supreme Court decision in the Canadian Celanese case. In this first of its kind decision, the Supreme Court set a framework for the management of the orders. This decision reflects the greater role of Anton Piller Orders in the litigation process.
Co-written by Jonathan J. Cullen, the book was published by the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada. Anton Piller Orders are an effective remedy often used by litigants to preserve evidence in advance of litigation. Daniel is an expert in Anton Piller Orders, having written numerous articles and developed client work related to the area. Ogilvy Renault is a leader in this domain and has acted as independent solicitor in Anton Piller situations.
