Ogilvy Renault ranks near the top in M&A Rankings

Toronto, April 16, 2008 - Ogilvy Renault ranked near the top of the newly released Thomson and Bloomberg M&A League table reports for the first quarter of 2008. The firm placed high in both the value and total number of deals.
According to Thomson Financial, Ogilvy Renault ranked third by deal value and fourth by deal count in announced Canadian deals. The firm had nine deals credited for the quarter. In Bloomberg's M&A league tables, Ogilvy Renault ranked third among Canadian law firms advising on Canadian announced M&A deals, by value. It was fourth among all firms in this category.
"It was a strong first quarter for our M&A practice-particularly against the backdrop of current financial markets," says Terence Dobbin, partner at Ogilvy Renault. "I'm very proud of our M&A team for their accomplishments in serving our clients."
The firm's signature deal during this period was acting for CHC Helicopter Corporation in its acquisition by First Reserve Corporation. This was the largest-ever buyout in the oilfield services industry.
