Ogilvy Renault was proud to act for Cirque du Soleil in the acquisition of a 20% stake by Istithmar World and Nakheel, units of Dubai World. Cirque du Soleil and its controlling shareholder, Guy Laliberté, are long-standing clients of Ogilvy Renault. The Ogilvy Renault team was led by Jean-Pierre Colpron.
This strategic partnership will allow Cirque du Soleil to open a show production office, ticketing company and a technical equipment and set design rental company in the United Arab Emirates. It will also enable Cirque du Soleil to be even more dynamic and effective in international development.
This is Ogilvy Renault's latest involvement in another high-profile international transaction-this time as counsel to one of Quebec's and Canada's cultural icons and most successful businesses. It confirms the depth of our expertise and our ability to provide services to internationally oriented clients.
Cirque du Soleil is the world's leading live entertainment company providing quality artistic entertainment, with annual sales in excess of US$700 million and nearly 4,000 employees, including 1,000 artists, hailing from close to 50 different countries. In 2008, the Cirque will be presenting 18 shows simultaneously around the world.
