Pursuant to securities registration statements filed with the Director-General, Kanto Local Finance Bureau of the Ministry of Finance of Japan on April 4, 2008 and amendments thereto filed on various dates through to April 22, 2008, Royal Bank of Canada issued JP¥28.3 billion (approx. CDN$276.4 million) aggregate principal amount of Japanese Yen Bonds.
First Series (2008), due April 26, 2013, JP¥37.8 billion (approx. CDN$369.2 million) aggregate principal amount of Japanese Yen Bonds - Second Series (2008) due April 26, 2011, and JP¥80.2 billion (approx. CDN$783.3 million) aggregate principal amount of Japanese Yen Floating Rate Bonds. Daiwa Securities SMBC Co. Ltd., Mizuho Securities Co., Ltd. and Nikko Citigroup Limited acted as Joint-Lead Managers for the offering. Each series of bonds are "Samurai bonds," which are yen bonds issued in Japan by non-Japanese entities.
