LAWYER(S)
On April 21, 2008, Bowater Mersey Paper Company Limited, an indirect subsidiary of AbitibiBowater Inc., acquired all of the issued and outstanding shares of Brooklyn Power Corporation and South Shore Power Services Incorporated. The purchase price was not disclosed by the parties. Brooklyn Power and South Shore own and operate a biomass fuelled electrical co-generation plant in Brooklyn, Nova Scotia, that sells electrical power to Nova Scotia Power Incorporated and steam to the Mersey paper mill located adjacent to the co-generation operation. The acquisition secures the environmentally beneficial supply of steam for the paper mill, as well as the supply of new renewable electrical power into the Nova Scotia power system.
AbitibiBowater was represented by Ogilvy Renault LLP, with a team comprised of Dustin Sean Isaacs, Mathieu Deschamps and Hoa Phong Le (M&A), Alan Mark (arbitration).
