On February 1, 2008, Tranzyme Pharma, a leading biopharmaceutical company developing small molecule drugs for the treatment of gastrointestinal and metabolic diseases, completed the second tranche of its US$20 million private financing initially completed on October 29, 2007. Tranzyme, Inc. and Tranzyme Pharma Inc. received US$10 million on the closing of this second tranche. The financing was led by existing investors H.I.G. Ventures, Thomas, McNerney & Partners, Quaker BioVentures, and BDC Venture Capital. Additional participants in the financing included existing investors Desjardins Venture Capital, Pacific Rim Ventures and Fonds de solidarité des travailleurs du Québec (F.T.Q.).
